How and when to apply
- Daily, preferably at the same time each day, often in the morning.
- Apply the gel to clean, dry and intact skin. Often on the shoulders, upper arms or abdomen (depending on product advice).
- Do not apply to the genitals or damaged skin.
- Wash your hands with soap and water immediately after use to prevent transfer to others.
- Allow the gel to dry before putting on clothing.
- Avoid swimming, showering or bathing for at least 2 hours after application.
- Dosage and exact application points are prescribed by your doctor and depend on your situation.

Important information about testosterone
- Testosterone is a male sex hormone. It is necessary for sperm production and causes male characteristics.
- Gel: apply the gel preferably in the morning. Only use the gel on healthy, dry and clean skin and do not apply it to your genitals. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
- Men may develop an enlarged prostate. If you experience problems urinating, contact your doctor.
- Side effects of the gel include skin rash, itching and red or dry skin. Change the areas where you apply the gel every day.
- Are you pregnant and does your partner use testosterone gel? Do not touch the area of skin where the gel has been applied. This medicine is harmful to the baby in your womb.
What are the possible side effects?
In addition to the desired effect, this medicine may cause side effects. The most important side effects are as follows.
- Skin rash, itching, redness of the skin and dry skin. Alternate the areas on which you apply the gel every day.
- Prostate enlargement

What should I do if I forget a dose?
Is it still more than 12 hours before the next dose is due? Then administer the dose as usual. Is it less than 12 hours? Then skip the missed dose.
Contact with pregnant women
Ensure that you do not touch pregnant or breastfeeding women with the area of skin where the cream has been applied, or that you rinse the skin thoroughly beforehand. If a woman ingests testosterone during this phase, it can be harmful to the baby's development and may cause the baby to develop male characteristics.
Effect on fertility
Prolonged use and high doses may cause infertility. If you still wish to have children, the use of the gel is strongly discouraged.
Other important points to note
- Insulin sensitivity may increase, making it necessary to reduce the dosage of blood glucose-lowering medication.
- Testosterone replacement therapy may produce a positive result in doping tests.
- If you have (had) prostate cancer, you cannot start treatment with testosterone gel.
Can I just stop taking this medicine?
You can stop taking it all at once, but symptoms caused by a hormone deficiency will return within a few weeks.
